As a group of utility professionals, we recognized today’s world of centralized energy will be replaced with distributed technology at the source of the demand. Since renewable energy and distributed technology has matured, energy can be generated onsite, eliminating the need for transmission and central generation. Lower costs and improved technology have given facility owners control in how energy is produced and who produces it. Businesses, facilities, and governments can control their energy supply to support sustainability, reliability, and resiliency goals. Maplewell set out to solve this need and deliver distributed energy resources (DERs) with renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy management. Maplewell is built around the idea that DER projects can be economically feasible, create revenue for the project host, and build towards a carbon free future. We believe DERs will be the biggest accelerator to a carbon free future. Our services and products are devoted to scaling and developing DER solutions tailored to individual organizations. As a private energy firm, we’re helping municipalities, water districts, electric associations, military, industrial & manufacturing, and commercial buildings discover and cultivate their DER resources from concept through construction.

With our Energy as a Service product, we shield performance and technical risk in operation of DER projects. Our Energy Management System maximizes asset revenue, performance, and availability.
Prior to starting Maplewell, Mr. Irvin has worked in the energy business for A&E, OEM, and consulting firms. He provided energy and engineering services to EPC’s, energy developers, utilities, municipal, and industrial clients. He's worked on projects throughout the US and internationally on all types of DER technology including thermal, gas turbines, biomass, PV, floating solar, wind, and hydro. His engineering experience includes design, owner engineering, feasibility studies, renewable development, capital planning, bid evaluation, construction specification, economic studies, and market analysis.
Mr. Smith a veteran of the US Navy and Nuclear Propulsion Program. He leads as Chief Operating Officer and has a technical background with applications primarily focused in energy and power production. Mr. Smith brings experience leading energy operations, facility operations, and an electrical subcontracting firm. His focus is driving Maplewell's process efficiency and innovation to exceed performance benchmarks. Mr. Smith's is driven to help customers with critical Infrastructure build energy resilience and decarbonize the electrical grid. Jeremiah brings a down-to-earth feel to help motivate and lead towards mission accomplishment. He thrives In high-paced and difficult scenarios to lead Maplewell's team to exceed our client's expectations.
Marcus Caudill serves as Chief Technology Officer for Maplewell. He has thirty-five years of experience in performance engineering and system optimization for thermal power generation. Since the early 1990’s, Mr. Caudill has developed energy models and advanced pattern recognition for condition monitoring, sensor validation, and early detection of failure. For 16 years, Mr. Caudill served as CTO and vice president for PCS until acquired by GP Strategies. Marcus has a passion for improving the efficiency, reliability, and availability of energy resources, resulting in lower emissions and lower rates for end users. Mr. Caudill led the development, implementation, and commercialization of the first successful application of advanced pattern recognition (APR) in the power industry.
Mike Stocking is Senior Energy Engineer at Maplewell. He previously launched a startup providing renewable fleet data acquisition, monitoring, and analysis on a SaaS platform. His experience includes over a decade providing engineering, product development, and project management services throughout the lifecycle of distributed energy resource projects. With a background in mechanical engineering, Mr. Stocking has been involved with research, development, operations, and asset management of wind, solar, and biodigester facilities with an emphasis on control and system integration. Mr. Stocking is a passionate believer in cleantech and helping lead technology agnostic decarbonization efforts with demand side management.
Karin is the Co-Founder of Maplewell Inc. Prior to co-founding Maplewell with her husband Matthew, she worked in the field of education. Working with a variety of diverse students has shaped how she views the world and approaches solutions to complex problems. Her educational background brings a unique perspective in a world of engineers. Karin is also a proud Colorado native who wants help care for her home state. She believes that energy resiliency and conservation are key to sustainability for our world today and the world our children will inherit tomorrow. On a daily basis, her role involves administrative and HR tasks, helping Maplewell run efficiently. She also serves as a corporate officer and on the Board of Directors.
Dr. White joined the Maplewell team as a data scientist and geospatial analyst. He is currently faculty of Geoscience at the U.S. Air Force Academy. His research involves Geographic Information Systems, remote modeling of environmental systems, UAVs/drones, and machine intellect/AI. He has conducted scholarly work in Haiti and Greece, and Virginia, Nevada, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Utah, USA.
Emiliano is a technical advisor on the Maplewell team. He previously was principal investigator on an ARPA-e Nodes program at NREL. His expertise is Optimization Theory, Control, and Signal Processing. A main objective of his research is to advance theory, algorithms, and analysis for decision systems and information processing. Particular focus is on the development of optimization, control, and learning methods for network systems and cyber-physical systems governed by complex physical, behavioral, and computational interdependencies. Current application domains include power systems, transportation systems, and machine learning.

By leveraging several financial mechanisms: ESPC, PPA, Leaseback, or Owner Financing, we structure financing to align with your operational needs. Projects can be funded with upfront capital or with future savings and revenue.
